Now Chelsea’s Spanish defender Marc Cucurella has spoken about the same issue. He commented that he was almost out of breath after seeing Trump’s behavior. Although he said it jokingly. Chelsea left-back Cucurella said in a podcast called Hihantes, “We were told that Trump would hand over the trophy as per the rules. We can start celebrating after he leaves. But he didn’t want to leave the stage at all. Instead, he looked at us and said, “You pick up the trophy, I’ll stay here.” I thought, who would dare to say anything to him? Honestly, I was almost out of breath!”
After the final, Trump entered the field with Infantino, Chelsea owner Todd Boely and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. He later distributed medals to the players and accepted a gift from Infantino. Later, when Chelsea captain Reece James went to collect the trophy, he asked Trump if he would be on the podium. Infantino also tried to remove Trump. But in the end, he was unsuccessful.
As a result, Chelsea had to celebrate with him. Even the real Club World Cup trophy was not given to Chelsea. The London club received a replica trophy. Trump kept the original trophy in his office.
